VINTAGE 1970 Petrus

Like a work of art, Petrus is crafted from one of the most beautiful Bordeux “terroirs”.
Pomerol is a unique red wine appellation located on the right bank of Bordeaux, near to St Emilion, and has earned itself a place among the world’s most revered wine regions and Petrus is the outstanding wine of this appellation.
Petrus, whose label design refers to the Greek version of St. Peter, the first of the Apostles, reveals a wine of great power while showing the finesse expected from one of the greatest wines in the world
The landscape here has the unique subsoil that is not found in any other vineyards. The soil is packed with very dense, deep, dark, blue clay. It is able to retain the rainwater and feed the vine when she needs to drink. The blue clay creates grapes with the highest levels of tannins in Pomerol and, indeed, throughout Bordeaux, but at the same time, these tannins are also among the softest in texture.

Tasting notes
Being in line with the great vintages of the post-war period (1961, 1982), 1970 represents a “must-have” vintage.
With a beautiful ruby colour, Petrus 1970 shows a fabulous aromatic complexity with supple and round tannins with an intense core and great vigor for its age: dried black fruits and plum at the first taste and the more you taste the more you can enjoy complex flavours such as leather, chocolate, violet and a perfect balance between the youth of the fruit and the complexity of the vintage.
Petrus 1970 shows great ageing potential.
