Nguyen Trung Nghia came from a mountainous zone in Daklak, Vietnam. He graduated with an Interior Design bachelor from Ho Chi Minh City University of Architecture in 2003. He then experimented painting with color smoke, gunpowder, and paper-burn. Since 2011, Nguyen Trung Nghia had taken painting as his main practice. One of his better-known series depicted endangered animals in Vietnam and the world. As he observed the koi fishes in the pond behind his studio, Nguyen Trung Nghia borrowed the image to talk about the limits of human life.
