Back then, Le Van Xuong had all it take to be famous but he seemed not to care much. His family retold that apart from the famous solo exhibition at the Opera House, he had his own grand studio where he invited friends for small exhibitions and open studios. He lived in comfort, thus did not pay attention to selling artworks. Despite that, he indeed sold quite a few with his exhibitions.
The works in this auction belonged to the collection of Y Lan, Le Van Xuong’s daughter. There was a time Y Lan was a little “frantic” with her father’s works – she would search for them and buy them from anywhere. Only recently did she accept that artworks should be enjoyed by more than one person, thus her acceptance for her father’s work in this auction.
